South Sound Saxophone Ensemble plays the finale of “Morning Comes Always”

At the tail end of October, Dr. Erik Steighner led the South Sound Saxophone Ensemble through its 10th anniversary concert(!). For the concert program, Dr. Steighner polled the ensemble members from over the years asking them what their favorite pieces were. South Sound premiered my piece Morning Comes Always last October, filling Lagerquist Hall with organ-like grandeur, ensemble members giving it their all through 18 minutes of music that charts a path from darkness, through midnight, and into the morning sun. I’m proud that in the voting, the piece rose to the top, through 9 years of other programs and fine music making to show up as the penultimate offering on Sunday’s concert.
