Morning Comes Always at Chamber Music Northwest and on All Classical 89.9 FM

In July, the Portland Saxophone Ensemble made a 3rd consecutive appearance as a part of Chamber Music Northwest’s Summer Festival, performing for a healthy crowd at Kaul Auditorium on the Reed College campus in Portland, OR. My piece for saxophone ensemble Morning Comes Always was first up on the program.

Earlier in the summer at a different concert, I made a serendipitous connection with the host of Portland’s classical music radio station All Classical—Christa Wessel, a lovely person and gracious host and emcee. She was compelled by the idea of classical saxophone and invited the ensemble onto her weekly live music segment Thursdays @ Three.

Fast forward a couple more months and the Portland Saxophone Ensemble was on stage again, performing Morning Comes Always alongside a fire arrangement of Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances by friend and fellow saxophonist Will Pyle, the recording below from July’s Chamber Music NW performance.

It’s always a joy to surprise an audience steeped in classical music with the sounds of classical saxophone! Listen to the full radio appearance here while it’s still archived!
