Arranging Ivan Trevino for saxophone and percussion

This spring, the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Saxophone and Percussion studios wanted to give a joint concert. Most of the concert would consist of contributions from one studio and then the other, but both studios were seeking a finale in which all participants from the saxophone and percussion world could join. They had their eye on a pair of percussionist and composer Ivan Trevino’s pieces—Echo Chamber and Red White Blue Orange in particular.

The original pieces were for percussion ensemble, guitar, synth, and vocals.

The studios asked if I could arrange the non-percussion parts for large saxophone ensemble and I leapt at the chance—I think everyone really enjoyed the result!
