Portland State University Saxophones perform Move With Me

In March, the Portland State University Saxophone Quartet opened the PSU Wind Symphony’s winter concert with my piece for saxophone quartet Move With Me. The four saxophonists brought their stylistic flexibility to the piece’s three movements which ask for three very different characters, shining especially brightly in the funk- and jazz-inflected third movement, turning one section of the movement into a full cadenza for each player—not what I initially envisioned but I loved to see that kind of make-it-your-own approach that signals total buy-in to the music.
